The Inspector-General of Police, George Akufo Dampare has advanced the police officer who got shot by suspects in the Caprice robbery to the rank of Sergeant.

His promotion takes effect immediately.

This was announced by the Ghana Police Service in a statement on December 13.

His promotion follows the visit of the Minister for Interior, the IGP and other senior police officers to the hospital where the officer is currently receiving medical attention.

The unidentified officer previously held a Corporal rank.

He was shot in the right thigh during a police raid at the hideout of suspects who attacked, shot and robbed a woman at Caprice in Accra on Friday.

“The police has, therefore, made necessary provisions under the Police Emergency Medical Intervention, which was launched by H.E. in January this year to ensure he receives the best medical care available in Ghana or other parts of the world as the case may be”.
