NPP To Organise Fresh Elections In Akwatia Constituency
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced it will be organising fresh internal elections in the Akwatia Constituency in the Eastern region.
This was contained in a memo from the General Secretary of the party, Justin Kodua Frimpong to the Eastern regional executive committee of the party.
In April after the conduct of constituency elections, some members of the NPP in Akwatia petitioned their national executives over what they said were breaches in the conduct of the elections and demanded their annulment
According to them, no official election was conducted.
In a memo, Kodua Frimpong explained the national executives of the NPP resolved to hold another election in the constituency during a meeting on December 23.
The elections will be conducted for polling station executives, Electoral Area Coordinators and Constituency executives of the party.
“On account of this decision, the regional executive committee is, by this statement, tasked to liaise with all relevant stakeholders to propose a convenient timeline for the conduct of these elections and await further instructions”, the Party directed.
