NPP Officially Unveils 2024 Flagbearer Before Otumfuo
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially unveiled their presidential candidate for the 2024 presidential election before the King of the Asante Kingdom, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The introduction was done during the last Akwasidae of the year 2023 on November 26 at the Manhyia Palace.
Introducing the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as their flagbearer, the General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong said, “After the election on November 4, the majority of the delegates opted for Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawimia to represent the Party in the 2024 Presidential election and we are here today to introduce him to the King.”
On his part, the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia pledged loyalty to the King and expressed gratitude for his invaluable counsel and direction. He attributed the success of his victory in the primary, held earlier this month, to the guidance received from Otumfuo.
“We are here to thank him (Otumfuo). I came here ahead of the election for counsel and blessings and I emerged the front runner.”
Present for the unveiling were the Second Lady, H.E. Samira Bawumia, National Chairman of the Party, Stephen Ntim, General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye and Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah.
Also were Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame Constituency, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, MP for Dome Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Sarfo, Education Minister, Yaw Osei Adutwum, MP for Bantama, Francis Asenso Boakye, Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Benito Owusu Bio and many others.
The NPP held their final Presidential Primary on Saturday, November 4, 2023, across the country for four contestants namely, the Vice President, Dr Bawumia, MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, Former Minister for Agriculture, Osei Akoto and Former MP for Mampong, Francis Addai Nimoh.
