Nominations for Presidential and Parliamentary Elections Open Tomorrow

The Electoral Commission will on August 2, 2024, open nominations for interested Candidates to contest in the Presidential and Parliamentary elections slated for December 4, 2024.

A statement issued by the Commission on August 1 said interested candidates will access nomination forms on its website and will have to submit them from August 9 to September 13.

Presidential Nomination
Form for Presidential candidates is pegged at GHc100,000 and will be paid by banker’s draft and submitted alongside the forms, the Commission noted.

It however noted that female candidates and persons with disability will pay GHc75,000.

The nomination form before submission must be completed and signed by the candidate, and not less than two registered voters of each District Assembly.

“The Nomination Forms shall be in quadruplicate and shall be delivered personally by the Presidential candidate or any two of the registered voters who signed the Nomination Forms for the Candidate. In addition to the completed nomination form, the candidate shall submit four copies of a recent post-card (bust-size) photographed against a red background showing the full face and ears of the candidate to the Returning Officer.”

This must be delivered at the Headquarters of the EC between 9 am and 12 pm and 2 pm and 5 pm on any of the designated days.

 

Parliamentary Nominations
Male Parliamentary candidates are to pay Ghc10,000 while female candidates will pay Ghc7,500 by Bankers draft to the Commission when submitting their nomination forms, the Commission directed.

The completed forms of Parliamentary candidates are to have the signatures of two registered voters as seconders as well as supported by 18 other registered voters in the constituency he seeks to represent.

“In addition to the completed Nomination Forms, the candidate shall submit four copies of a recent post-card (bust-size) photographed against a red background showing the full face and ears of the candidate to the Returning Officer between the hours of 9 am to 12 pm and 2 pm to 5 pm each day.”
