No Ghanaian Prez Comes Close to Akufo-Addo’s Achievements – Napo
Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Running Mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2024 Presidential election has asserted that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo stands tall in achievement among the seven past Presidents the country has had since 1957.
Addressing a crowd of party faithfuls at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi during his official unveiling on July 9, 2024, the lawmaker who is affectionately called Napo indicated that the sitting President has wrought unprecedented developmental projects and honourably protected the state.
According to him, not even the country’s celebrated first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, comes near or can be compared to him.
“From 1957 till date, we haven’t had any President who has developed Ghana more than Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. From 1957 not even that of Kwame Nkrumah can be compared him. No president has ever protected the country and developed it like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
“When he was given the mandate, he delivered it to the letter in glory and so as we stand we won’t give room for the event in 2008 to repeat itself. I agree with Chairman Wontumi that the most glorious thing will be to see President Akufo-Addo hand over to Dr Bawumia, his younger brother.”
He urged the country to therefore deliver the mandate to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and the Flagbearer of the NPP to continue the works for development.
“Dr Bawumia will reinforce what my father (President Akufo-Addo) has done. If you want to secure your future as a youth, vote for Dr Bawumia.”
The remarks of Napo has received widespread attention on social media, where they are among trends on X formerly Twitter.
It appears his remarks has not gone down well with many Ghanaians who have taken to social media to spit their anger.
“Trying to speak with zeal. enthusiastic. All will be done and will end up in the ditch of failure. Bawumia and NAPO is like adding salt to a SALTY soup,” one commented.
Another added, “The arrogance and the impudence. Since I was born, I have not seen a worse administration than this NPP government, yet they are filled with pride and arrogance, ignoring the plight of Ghanaians.”
One other suggested, “Bring kwame Nkrumah’s records and let’s compare!..simple”
