No Attempt by Government To Collapse Local Businesses – Majority Leader
Contrary to claims by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Akufo-Addo led government plans to collapse artisanal businesses for no apparent reason, Majority Leader and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Hon. Osei-Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has set the record straight.
“President Akufo-Addo has no intention to collapse artisanal businesses in Suame, or other part of the country”, the lawmaker dismissed rumours on Opemsuo FM morning show hosted by George Opoku Mensah Agudey.
It has been widely reported that barring any unforeseen circumstances, Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authorities will not allow importation of cars defined as salvaged by 1st November, 2020.
During a One-on-One interview on Nkwantananso political talkshow, Hon. Osei-Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu emphasized that the intention of the government is to curb carnages on our roads and create employment for the people contrary to NDC’s cliams.
“This will even give jobs to those who will be assembling new cars and not to collapse local businesses”, the Suame lawmaker explained to listeners of OPEMSUO 104.7
Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu subsquently explained that President Akufo-Addo has met stakeholders of the artisanal businesses across the country to ensure the best for their businesses.
