Nigeria Floor Ghana 2-1 in WAFU B U20 Championship
Last night did not go the way of Ghana as their hope of raising the 2024 WAFU B U20 Championship trophy in Togo got dashed following their 2-1 defeat to their fiercest opponents, Nigeria.
The Flying Eagles registered their superiority over the Black Satellites earlier in the game at the Stade de Kegue as they scored their winning goals in the first half thanks to Kparabo Arieri.
Jerry Afriyie who subsequently won the Golden Boot pulled a consolation.
Despite the defeat, Ghana have booked their place in the 2025 U20 AFCON. Head Coach Desmond Ofei has commended his boys for the qualification.
“Losing nine key players who were crucial to our success at the African Games was a significant blow. But this allowed us to build a new core of young talent, and these boys have stepped up tremendously. They deserve this qualification just as much as anyone else.”

The 2025 U20 AFCON will also serve as the African qualifiers for the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile, where the four semi-finalists will qualify automatically.
