NIA Engages GES ahead of Registration of Children Aged 6–14 Years

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has engaged the Ghana Education Service (GES) ahead of plans to enrol children onto the national identification register.
The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) and a delegation from the National Identification Authority (NIA), led by its Executive Secretary, Wisdom Kwaku Deku, at the meeting discussed preparations towards the exercise.
The meeting centred on deepening collaboration between GES and NIA to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated nationwide exercise.
Key areas of discussion included planning, logistics, communication with schools and parents, and clearly outlining the responsibilities of both institutions.
GES reaffirmed its commitment to supporting this important national assignment by facilitating access to basic schools and working closely with regional and district education offices to ensure effective implementation.
In a statement, the GES encouraged parents and guardians to cooperate fully when the exercise begins.
It stated that the registration of children is vital for national planning, access to services, and strengthening identity management systems in Ghana.
The NIA is set for a mass registration of Ghanaian children aged 6–14 years.
