The National Health Insurance Authority has signed a partnership deal with four local clubs in Ghana.
The partnership deal which was signed in Accra on August 31, 2022, will last for five years, the NHIA announced on its website.
The partnered local clubs are Tamale City FC, Kotoku Royals, Samartex and Nsoatreman.
By the deal, the NHIA will have its logo embossed in “player jerseys, stadia, social media branding, TV & Radio” while the “team players and their dependents, technical teams, and a cross-section of the fans’ medical bills will be covered by the State”.
According to the Chief Executive Officer for the Authority, the “partnership is to help us increase the NHIS active membership to over 18 million to secure more support from development partners. We will support the teams to have access to medical consultants.”
This, the NHIA noted, is expected to increase enrolment by 80%.
