NDC Youth Troop To Mahama’s Office In Search of “Rodents”
Some youth of the opposition National Democratic Congress have trooped onto the premises of the office of their flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, wielding machetes, sticks, brooms and other tools in search of “rodents and reptiles”.
The party faithful on Thursday, November 23 were clad in red, white and green shirts chanting energetically as they waited for any member of the Fixing the Country Movement- a group affiliated with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP)-who may trespass the venue.
The Deputy National Communication Officer of the Party, Malik Basintale who joined the exercise dubbed “NDC Youth Clean Up” said his weapon was destined for any “rodent or reptile” he spots on the premises.
“I purposely came for rodents and I purposely came for reptiles and I will not use this until I see rodents around. So far, so good we haven’t seen any around but we are monitoring and we have eyes all around which will see anyone who is not invited here and we will treat such as rodents.”
According to him, all grievances must be directed to the sitting President not the former.
Picketing
The move by the NDC was in fulfilment of a promised bloodshed by the youth wing after the Fixing the Country Movement announced plans to picket at the office of the former President and petition him over the infamous Airbus Scandal.
In a statement, Amorse Blessing Amos, the Greater Accra Regional Youth Organizer of the NDC said, “In the event Owusu Bempah and his group remain nonchalant and attempt anything close to what they have announced, they should pay for their coffins and graves before they come.”
He added, “This statement goes as a warning or whatever they may want to call it, to Owusu Bempah and whoever he may be planning this with, that they should not dare come closer to Excellency John Dramani Mahama’s office. If he and his lapdogs are men, they should make any silly attempt around that office.”
The protest was scheduled for today, however, it was called off two days earlier.
“The Fixing the Country Movement wishes to inform the general public that due to a formal order by the Ministry of National Security, the planned demonstration and picketing at the Cantonments office of former President John Mahama scheduled for Thursday, November 23, has been called off,” it said in a statement.
