NDC Supporters Storm GRA Head Office over New GRA Boss Appointment
Irate supporters of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) have stormed the premises of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) in the Greater Accra Region.
The group is there to protest against the appointment of Anthony Sarpong as the Acting Commissioner-General.
His appointment last week has raised concerns from a wide section of the NDC who believes he aligns more with the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) than the NDC.
They have thus called for the withdrawal of the appointment.
One of the protesters at the premises on January 27, 2025, said their aim was to protest against the appointee.
According to him, the former Senior Partner of the KPMG played no part in the party’s electoral victory to warrant an appointment.
“Our reason being here is this: we are grassroots of NDC and for that matter, we are here to protest against the appointment of this man. Tell me this man what has he done that he deserves this opportunity. We don’t need him here. He should go.”
Meanwhile, CNR reports that their leaders are in a meeting with GRA management, while police, military, and customs officials secure the premises to prevent any unrest.
