NDC Pays Tribute to Jerry John Rawlings on Fifth Anniversary of His Passing

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has paid glowing tribute to the late former President Jerry John Rawlings on the fifth anniversary of his death, describing him as a visionary leader whose contributions to Ghana’s development will remain indelible in the nation’s history.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, and signed by the party’s Director of Communications, Kakra Essamuah, the NDC said the day marks exactly five years since the passing of the founder of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.

“As the party, the nation, and his numerous admirers worldwide remember him for his sterling contributions to the development and welfare of our people, we in the NDC remain assured that absolutely nothing will erase his legacy from the history of Ghana,” the statement noted.

The party also extended its reflection to the late Mrs. Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, who, according to the statement, “has also recently passed into glory.”

The NDC expressed sorrow that she is yet to be accorded a befitting state farewell, describing her as a symbol of service and dedication to the Ghanaian people.

“In the long sweep of history, five years may appear short, but for us in the NDC, it has been five long years of mourning and sorrow. We shall always remember him,” the party added.

The statement concluded with a solemn message to the late former President:
“Comrade President, Chairman Rawlings, continue to rest peacefully in the bosom of the Lord.”

Jerry John Rawlings, founding father of the NDC, passed away on November 12, 2020. His widow, Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, followed him in death on October 23, 2025.
