NDC Ho Central Office Unaffected After Attempted Arson
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) says the party office of the National Democratic Congress at Ho Central was not affected by a fire outbreak at the premises on Tuesday night.
It however affected plastic chairs, office tables, and lorry tyres placed in front of the office.
“The NDC office building itself remained unaffected. There were no injuries or fatalities recorded.”
The fire which according to preliminary investigations was deliberately set, started around 7 pm and was extinguished by officers in minutes.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire was deliberately set.”
A statement issued by the Service read in part, “A fire incident occurred in front of the Ho Central Constituency NDC Office in the Volta Region on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
“The fire emergency call was received at 1914 hours, and the fire appliance (FS 530) was dispatched at 1915 hours, arriving at the scene at 1919 hours. Firefighters swiftly brought the blaze under control, extinguishing it at 1922 hours.”
The suspect has since been reported to the police, it said.
“The suspect has been reported to the Police for further action.”
Reports indicate that the attack was carried out by angry NDC supporters in protest to the President’s failure to appoint any individual from the constituency into cabinet.
