NCA: Undertake Stage 2 Of SIM Registration Exercise Or Be Deactivated

The National Communication Authority (NCA) has issued a directive to persons yet to complete the SIM re-registration exercise to do so or lose their SIM activation.

Such subscribers will have their SIM cards deactivated after 11 days.

A statement released by the Authority on Monday directed the caution at subscribers who have completed Stage One (1) and have failed to carry on with Stage Two (2) of their SIM re-registration process.

“It will be recalled that the Minister for Communications and Digitalisation directed that subscribers who have not completed their registration as of 30th November 2022 should be disconnected.

“After this directive had been adhered to, the NCA has noticed that there have been additional Stage One (1) registrations which are yet to be completed”, the Statement read.

Such persons will have their SIM cards deactivated after March 10, 2023, it noted.

In addition to that, the Authority said subscribers who begin the registration process (Stage 1) and do not complete their registration within two (2) weeks will also have their SIMs deactivated.

Meanwhile, subscribers with challenges in completing Stage 2 of their registrations are to contact the NCA on 0800 110 622 during working hours or via complaints@nca.org.gh or their respective Network Operators for assistance.

It reiterated that the SIM Registration Exercise is to develop and build a SIM database with integrity which will assist in curbing fraudulent activities.

The SIM re-registration exercise began in October 2021 and had the deadline postponed several times to address challenges that arose in the course.
