Nations FC Appeal GFA Ban

Nations Football Club have appealed the verdict of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee on assault of match officials by their supporter during the match day six game.

The angry supporters are said to have assaulted the officials after the game against Bibiani Goldstars FC at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex at Abrankese.

Nations were faulted for failing to offer the needed security for the officials and were subsequently found guilty by the Committee.

It therefore handed them a one-home match ban and a fine of GHC 6,000.

“The club was found guilty of failing to ensure the safety of match officials and allowing its supporters to assault the match officials during the game. Nations FC has also been fined GHC 6,000 and warned that any further misconduct in subsequent matches will result in severe sanctions,” the FA said in a notice.

However, the club intend to appeal the ban in opposition to the guilty verdict.

In a statement, they emphasized their commitment to upholding the high standards of the league and ensuring the safety of players, fans, and match officials at their home ground.

“We wish to state that the club has appealed the decision as we believe we are in good standing and have consistently acted in accordance with regulations on match days.”

It further assured, “We also wish to inform our fans, travelling supporters, and other stakeholders that the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex will continue to be a venue that does not tolerate any form of abuse towards officials or the playing body.”

If the ban is anything to go by, it means Nation’s upcoming game against Nsoatreman will be played on a neutral ground.
