NADMO Boss Not Kidnapped- Police
The police have dispelled reports of the kidnapping of the Director-General of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and Parliamentary Candidate of Ahafo Ano North, Nana Eric Agyemang Prempeh, as misinformation.
In a statement, the police said the report which circulated on social media was false and urged the public to disregard it.
“The Ghana Police Service would like to refute claims circulating on social media suggesting that Hon. Nana Eric Agyemang Prempeh, the Director-General of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has allegedly been kidnapped.”
It noted that the needed police security is being offered to ensure his safety.
“We wish to categorically state that this claim is false and the Police have been in contact with him and providing him with all the security support he needs as the Parliamentary candidate of Ahafo Ano North Constituency in the Ashanti Region.”
The Parliamentary election results declaration has been marred with some violence in parts of the country with some constituencies yet to complete the collation process for the announcement of the winner.
As of 6 pm on Monday, nine constituencies were yet to have their Parliamentary results declared.
The Electoral Commission Chairperson, Jean Mensah yesterday said their offices had been besieged by political party supporters, making it impossible to complete the collation process.
These constituencies were Awutu Senya East, Nsawam Adoagyir, Akwatia, Suhum, Techiman South, Dome Kwabenya, Ablekuma North, Ahafo Ano North and Damongo.
Late Monday evening, Damongo’s results was confirmed in favour of the New Patriotic Party’s Samuel Abu Jinapor.
