My Sons Never Get It Wrong- Abedi Pele
Former professional football player Abedi Ayew, known professionally as Abedi Pele has stated that his two sons playing for Ghana have never committed a blunder in their campaigns with the Black Stars.
His reaction came as a response to criticisms Jordan and Andre Ayew endure at the hands of Ghanaians for what had been characterised as their poor run with the team.
“They never get it wrong,” he stated in an interview in which a journalist tried finding out about how he feels when his sons get backlashed.
According to him, his sons’ potential rather attracts these backlashes.
“They never left me alone when I was playing. It was the same so I have nothing wrong with it.”
He continued, “It’s because they know you have and can do that is why they come at you.”
Jordan who plays for English Premier League Club Crystal Palace and Andre Ayew who is with Ligue One side Le Havre have constantly faced public criticism while playing for the national team.
Some have called for their exclusion from the team due to what they call underperformance. These calls were renewed recently after Ghana’s early exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Andre Ayew who featured twice in the team at the tournament made no impact as the Black Stars lost in his first feature and drew in his second after awarding a penalty to the opponent.
