MultiChoice Ghana Agrees To Reduce DSTV Subscription Fees

Multichoice Ghana has softened its stance over the government’s demand for a reduction in DSTV subscription fees.
This was announced by the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam George, during a press conference on September 5, 2025.
Ahead of the expiration of a 30-day suspension deadline, MultiChoice reached out to the Minister and the National Communications Authority (NCA), indicating a willingness to address the pricing concern through a consultative process as was adopted by the Ministry with the MNOs during the data pricing reduction exercise, the Minister reported.
“Consequently, we’ve taken the decision to immediately establish a stakeholder committee comprising representatives from the Ministry, NCA, MultiChoice Ghana and MultiChoice Africa,” he disclosed, announcing himself as the Chairman of the Committee.
The Committee has 14 days, including weekends, to reach a decision on the rate of reduction.
It may be recalled that the NCA requested the cost build-up for the various bouquet offers by MultiChoice Ghana and in seven other African countries on August 4, after it resisted a demand for a reduction.
Following a non-compliance with the request, it was slapped with a ¢10,000 daily fine which took effect on August 14.
