MPs Are Agents Of Development For Their Constituencies – Former MP Asserts
Former Member of Parliament for Mampong Constituency and 2024 NPP Flagbearer hopeful, Hon. Francis Addai Nimoh has stated that it is the responsibility of legislators to lobby for the development of their respective constituencies.
The key roles Members of Parliament play in the developmental agenda in their constituencies qualify them as agents of development in their constituencies.
Speaking on Opemsuo Radio with Agudey, the MP asserted that the main function of MPs is to formulate laws for the State and perform oversight functions such as approval of government policies and budgets as stipulated and mandated by the Constitution.
However, Hon. Addai Nimo asserted that aside from these major written functions he is in the Chamber of Parliament on the ticket and interest of the constituents and therefore must lobby for the development of the constituency.
Speaking on Suame MP, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu’s case in Suame some days ago, Hon. Addai Nimo stated his Constituents experts more from him due to the fact that he has been in the Chamber for long period, is very experienced, and very influential for that matter must act to find solutions to the challenges in his constituency.
