Mpox Cases Reach 980

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has reported a continuous rise in the number of Mpox cases across the country.

As of January 18, 2026, it said there were 12 new confirmed cases, with one on admission.

Meanwhile, the death toll stands at seven, according to data from the GHS.

Mpox spreads mainly through close contact with someone who has the infection.

The GHS continues to encourage people to protect themselves by avoiding close contact with infected persons, washing their hands often with soap and water, and refraining from regular touching of the eyes, nose, and mouth.

It has also encouraged the members of the public to report to the nearest health facility when experiencing symptoms like fever, rash, headache, muscle aches, or swollen lymph nodes.
