Ministry Of Health Says It Is Deprived Information On Agenda 111 Project
The Ministry of Information (MoH) says it has no information at its disposal about the government’s “Agenda 111” project.
It will be recollected that President Akufo-Addo in April 2021, during one of his covid address updates, announced the construction of district hospitals, regional hospitals in the six newly established regions and psychiatric clinics.
The project was themed “Agenda 111”.
The project was commissioned at Trede in the Ashanti Region by the president on August 17 and was projected to be completed twelve months after commencement.
Months down the line, the Ministry of Health headed by Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, says they have no information on the project.
This was contained in a letter to the media company, Multimedia Group, after the latter wrote to the Ministry invoking the Right To Information for information (RTI) about the project.
In response, the Ministry in a letter dated March 21, 2022 said, “Per our records, we do not have the information in our custody”.
During the 28th covid address of President Akufo-Addo, he expressed his confidence in completing all 111 health facilities before the end of his tenure in 2025.
“There are one hundred and one (101) districts in the country with no district hospitals, and we have to do something about it. The creation of the new regions also means that Government has to construct six (6) Regional Hospitals for the six (6) new Regions, and a befitting new regional one for the Western Region, and see to the construction of three (3) new psychiatric hospitals for the Coastal, Middle and Northern Belts, respectively, and rehabilitate the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital in the Western Region.
“This has led to the formulation and declaration of Agenda 111, the biggest ever investment in the nation’s healthcare sector. Work is currently underway, and before the end of my tenure of office on 7th January 2025, all one hundred and eleven (111) hospitals would have been commissioned”.
