Methodist Church: Appiah Stadium Aims To Discredit Rev Prof. Emmanuel Asante
The Methodist Church of Ghana has risen in defence of its Past Presiding Bishop of the Church, and the immediate Past President of the National Peace Council (NPC), Most Rev Prof. Emmanuel Asante.
The defence is against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) serial caller, Frank Kwaku Appiah popularly known as Appiah Stadium over his statement that the former NPC President is a “hypocrite” for keeping silent under the Akufo-Addo led government.
The popular NDC serial caller opined that Prof. Asante was quite vociferous against the NDC when former President John Dramani Mahama was in power. However, the man of God objected and reminded him that he is no longer the NPC president and therefore cannot voice out as he used to do.
In a counter-statement to Appiah Stadium, the Methodist Church of Ghana emphasised that “the Church stays unaligned to any political party and will comment on national issues as a Stakeholder in the development of our nation Ghana”.
Calling on Ghanaians to disregard the assertions, the statement added, “We wish to state that the video was recorded without the knowledge and consent of the Most Rev Prof. Emmanuel Asante and this seeks to discredit the hard-won reputation of the eminent cleric and to create disaffection for him and the members of the clergy”.
