Medeama President Offered Me Thrice Kotoko’s Offer- Kwame Opoku

Asante Kotoko forward, Kwame Opoku has disclosed how his love and loyalty for Kotoko egged him on to reject a bigger offer to join Medeama Sporting Club.

After his return from Moroccan side Olympique Khouribga, he said Medeama SC President, Moses Armah approached him with an enticing package.

The package, he said, was thrice that of Kotoko, however, his desire to play in the red jersey informed his decision to reject it.

“Medeama SC President, Moses Armah offered me a three-time better deal than what Asante Kotoko offered me but I declined and decided to join Kotoko. Kotoko is the club that I have always wanted to play for so I decided to make a return,” he told Asempa FM.

The 27-year-old rejoined the Porcupines on a two-and-a-half-year contract in December 2024.

Kwame in his stint in the 2020/21 season, netted 6 goals and provided 3 assists in just 16 appearances.

His impressive performances saw him earn a move to USM Alger in Algeria before continuing his career at Moroccan outfit Olympique Khouribga.

Since his comeback, he has scored four goals in three league games.

He reps in the “iconic” number 31 jersey.

After Kotoko’s last game which saw him net two goals, Head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum classified him as an “amazing” player and a top marksman.
