Mbappe Left Out of France’s Squad
France Manager Didier Deschamps has for the second time in a row excluded captain Kylian Mbappe from his squad for their upcoming Nations League fixtures.
Last month, the Real Madrid player missed the qualifiers due to a thigh injury; however, no tangible reason has been offered for his omission this time around.
In his justification, Deschamps said his exclusion was better for the camp, though the player was eager to represent his country.
“I’ve had several exchanges with him. I reflected and I took this decision for this camp here because I think that it’s better like that. I’m not going to argue. What I can tell you are two things. That Kylian wanted to come and it’s not non-sporting problems that are taken into account from the moment the presumption of innocence exists and should exist. It’s a choice, I repeat, that is occasional, for this camp and the two matches that we have.”
France are booked to face Israel and Italy in the UEFA Nations League.
Mbappe was absent from France’s 4-1 win over Israel and 2-1 win against Belgium last month.
Unverified reports say he feigned his injury to avoid playing for his country.
