Man Drowns in Attempt to Find his Brother
The community of Atafoa in the Kumasi Metropolis was devastated as a brother went missing while attempting to locate his sibling who had been swept away by floodwaters.
Kwaku Aboagye, was swept away while crossing the overflowing Owabi River on a bicycle during a torrential downpour on June 21, 2023.
Kwame Asuman, the elder brother, ventured into the treacherous waters of Owabi River in the early hours of Thursday, June 22, hoping to find his missing sibling. However, he also drowned.
Hon. Daniel Acheampong, the Assemblyman for the Abrepo Mpatasie Electoral Area, revealed in an interview on Nkwantannanso with Samuel Kwaw on June 22 that Kwame Asuman entered the river based on information provided by someone who claimed to know the location of his brother’s body.
Unfortunately, he drowned in front of grieving family members and residents who had gathered at the scene.
“The bodies of both victims have been recovered and taken to the morgue. I strongly urge all residents to avoid attempting to cross the river when it overflows its banks,” he emphasized.
