Man City Winger Jérémy Doku Acquires Ghana Passport

Ghanaian-born Belgian football player Jérémy Baffour Doku has acquired a Ghanaian passport.

The Manchester City player was presented with his first Ghanaian passport on Monday by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

According to the Minister, it was in fulfilment of the winger’s wish during a visit last week on his arrival in Ghana for a reconnection with his roots.

“Jérémy Baffour Doku receives a Ghanaian passport for the first time. This was the wish of Jérémy and his family when they called on me last week — glad we successfully delivered chip-embedded passports today.”

“This significant development confirms Jérémy Baffour Doku’s commitment to fully reconnect with Ghana despite playing for Belgium. I wish him the very best in his illustrious career.”

As a dual citizen, he is legally entitled to a Ghanaian passport.

As part of his visit to Ghana, he has met with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, Kofi Adams, the Sports Minister, and others.
