Man Burns to Death at Assin Fosu

A man has died at Assin Fosu in a fire that engulfed a kitchen with a storeroom.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the fire spread to a Renault Duster Salon car and a wooden kiosk.
The incident happened on the morning of January 8, 2026, at Mempeasem near the Railway Station Quarters.
The victim has been identified as Kwabena Effutu and is believed to be in his 30s.
The charred body was handed over to the police for onward transportation to St. Francis Xavier Morgue.
“With the timely arrival and efficient coordination, the fierce fire was brought under control and finally extinguished at 0640 hours, averting a potential spread of fire to nearby structures,” it reported.
It added that the kitchen and its contents, and the Renault Duster Salon car, were salvaged from the total ruins of fire.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire, according to the Service.
