Mahama Warns MMDCEs Against Misappropriating Common Fund

President John Dramani Mahama has discouraged Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) from using the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) for their parochial interest.
He emphasized that the funds are meant for decentralized developmental projects.
At an orientation and training programme for the newly appointed officials on June 18, 2025, the President said he expected the funds to be used judiciously and transparently in the interest of the people.
“We have taken steps to transfer the highest amount of funds in the history of the Fourth Republic to you from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF). As the Minister said, 80% of the District Assemblies Common Fund is coming directly to you.
“We expect you to ensure the judicious and transparent use of these resources. The Funds must be utilized in the interest of our people and not for our creature comfort.”
He noted that the Auditor General and other Anti-Corruption agencies will be monitoring the use of the funds.
“The Auditor General and other Anti-Corruption agencies will be watching your work and as I’ve said previously, when any of these institutions start investigating you, you don’t expect me to interfere on your behalf.”
