Mahama Recommits to Service Above Self after One Year In Office

President John Dramani Mahama has recommitted himself to prioritising the interests of Ghanaians after one year in office as the head of state.

Addressing the nation on January 7, 2026, he said he expected the year ahead to test his government’s resolve, patience and discipline.

“The year ahead will demand even more from us,” he said, sounding more prepared and therefore pledged to exhibit ethical leadership, service above self, integrity, competence and compassion.

“We recommit ourselves to listening, especially to the voices of our vulnerable youth and those who feel excluded. We recommit ourselves to the unity of our nation, knowing that Ghana’s strength has always come from the ability to rise above division and work together for the common good.”

Meanwhile, he said his government will deepen the initiated reforms, take advantage of opportunities to accelerate growth and ensure that development and progress are felt across the nation.

The President made these remarks while expressing appreciation to Ghanaians for their resilience, patience and faith in the future of the nation.
