Mahama Reassures Asantehene of His Commitment to Developing Ashanti Region
President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, has reaffirmed his commitment to developing the Ashanti Region.
The reassurance was conveyed by former Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Samuel Sarpong when he represented the former President at the last Akwasidae Festival of 2024 at the Manhyia Palace on December 8.
“Today is the last Akwasidae Festival. This morning, Otumfuo’s son- the incoming President- called me and directed me to come and represent him here. Mr Mahama sent us to extend his greatest gratitude to the King because it’s by his prayers he has emerged victorious in the elections.”
He also assured of the President-elect’s commitment to fulfilling his promise of developing the Ashanti Region.
“During his last visit to the Manhyia Palace, he received a book on the development of Asanteman and he wants me to tell Otumfuo that he is fully committed to honouring his promise.”
Mr Mahama last visited the Palace on December 3, during which he emphasized his party’s dedication to the development of the Ashanti Region which stands as the second most populous region.
This dedication, he said, drove them to develop key infrastructures in the region including the Kumasi International Airport, the Kejetia Market project, the Afari Military Hospital and the Sewua Regional Hospital.
Though the Electoral Commission (EC) is yet to declare the 2024 General Election after almost 24 hours, the Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has conceded defeat based on internal tallies.
Mr Mahama after his landslide victory will be sworn into office on January 7, 2024.
