Mahama Promotes New Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, and GAF Chief of Staff
The Jubilee House has announced the promotion of the incoming Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, and the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Chief of Staff effective March 24, 2025.
According to the Minister of State for Government Communication, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, the move was on the advice of the Armed Forces Council and ahead of the handing over of the outgoing administration of the Forces.
It noted that the promotion was undertaken by President John Dramani Mahama in consultation with the Council of State.
“The President wishes the new chiefs of the Ghana Armed Forces a successful tenure as they work loyally and diligently with patriotic courage as a united team cooperating to protect and defend our dear nation.”
The officials include:
Major General William Agyapong – Chief of Defence Staff
Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu – Chief of Army Staff
Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing – Chief of Naval Staff
Air Vice Marshal Eric Agyen-Frempong – Chief of Air Staff
Air Vice Marshal Joshua Lartei Mensah-Larkai – Chief of Staff
