Mahama Orders Investigations into Alleged KIA Drug Trafficking, Money Laundering

President John Dramani Mahama has ordered an investigation into drug trafficking and money laundering alleged by the Member of Parliament of Assin South Constituency, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour.
The former Deputy Minister for Education at a presser in Parliament on April 1 claimed that two suspicious flights arriving at the Kotoka International Airport were involved in drug trafficking and money laundering.
In a Facebook post, President Mahama said his government takes a serious view of the allegation and thereby directed the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), the Police CID, the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), and the National Security Coordinator to probe it.
The investigative bodies are to “immediately and fully collaborate with the honourable member of parliament so he provides all necessary information to investigate the allegations and take all actions necessary to expose any drug dealing”.
According to him, the government will not countenance the use of the KIA as a transit point for drug trafficking.
“We will maintain zero tolerance for using Ghana as a transit or final destination for drugs or drug trafficking.”
The NIB last week busted drugs with a street value of $350 million.
