Mahama Names Frank Amoakohene as Ashanti Regional Minister-Designate

President John Dramani Mahama has submitted the name of the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Frank Amoakohene to Parliament for approval as Regional Minister.

The medical practitioner was named among the 10 individuals to serve as Regional Ministers in the country.

The office of the President announced this in a press statement issued on January 15, 2025.

Amoakohene is an expert in healthcare, governance and public service.

He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Ghana, a Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science degree from the University of Development Studies and an MBA from the Accra Business School.

In November 2022, he was elected as the Secretary of the NDC.

President Mahama has also named Mrs Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey for Eastern Region, Ibrahim Tia for North East, Danatus Akamugri Atanga for Upper East, Charity Gardiner for Ahafo, Salisu Bi-Awuribe for Savannah, Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo for Greater Accra, Ali Adolf John for Northern, John Kwadwo Gyapong for Oti and James Gunu for Volta.

“The President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, has submitted the names…to Parliament through the Speaker, for prior approval to serve as Regional Ministers,” the statement read in part.

Six more persons are expected to be named to undergo vetting in the coming days.
