Mahama Names Finance, Energy and Justice Ministers

President John Dramani Mahama has nominated three officials to superintend over three Ministries under his government.

They are former Deputy Minister Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson as Minister for Finance Designate, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor as minister for Energy Designate and Hon. Dominic Akuritinga Ayini – Attorney -General and Minister for Justice Designate.

A statement issued by the Acting Spokesperson of the President, Felix Ofosu Kwakye made the announcement on January 9, 2025.

He said the names of the three were part of President Mahama’s first batch of Ministerial Nominees.

 

Their names, he said, had been submitted to the Speaker of Parliament in accordance with Article 78 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.

The appointees would be vetted by the newly constituted Appointments Committee of Parliament headed by the Member of Parliament for Akatsi South Constituency, Hon. Bernard Ahiafor.

The leadership of the Committee also includes Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah as Vice Chairperson, Hon. Alexander K. Afenyo-Markin as Ranking Member and Hon. Patricia Appiagyei as Deputy Ranking Member.

Members of the Committee are Hon. Kwame Governs Agbodza, Hon. Mahama Ayariga, Hon. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Hon Shaibu Maham, Alhassan Umar, Frank Annoh Dompreh and Patrick Yaw Boamah.
