Mahama is a Veteran President and We Expect Him to Keep Light On – Oforikrom MP
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Oforikrom constituency, Hon. Michael Kwasi Aidoo, has urged President H.E. John Dramani Mahama to use his experience as a former president ‘to keep the light on’ for Ghanaians.
He said the recent looming issues of limited electricity generation must not be allowed to escalate into a crisis but must be addressed decisively by the current administration led by Mahama.
He indicated that the current administration must abandon excuses and tackle the energy sector issues head-on to resolve all the challenges associated with it.
“What we expect from the energy sector is to keep the light on. No government has ever been free from debt. The Nana Akufo-Addo government came into office with its own debt and, despite the challenges, including the pay-or-take agreement he inherited, he ensured that the lights stayed on.”
“So, I believe this is not the time for excuses. Most importantly, our president, H.E. John Mahama, has been president before, so he is not new to the job. He is a veteran who has returned, and we believe he should be able to get things rolling.”
The new MP, who succeeded Hon. Dr. Emmanuel Marfo, said governance is a continuous process, and therefore, the NDC government must continue from where the NPP government left off by addressing the energy sector issues to prevent the recurrence of Dumsor.
Hon. Michael Kwasi Aidoo also indicated that he will bring his experience in the petroleum sector to aid parliament in formulating policies that are beneficial to Ghana, just as his predecessor, Hon. Dr. Emmanuel Marfo, did in the environmental sector.
