Mahama Directs Submission of Bill for Establishment of National Defence University

President John Dramani Mahama has directed a bill to be laid before Parliament to facilitate the establishment of the National Defence University of Ghana.

The proposed university is expected to integrate all relevant defence-related colleges under a unified institutional framework.

During a government inspection of the NDU construction site at Teshie in Accra, government officials reaffirmed their commitment to the project.

The Minister for Education disclosed plans by the government to support the construction of the proposed project with funds from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

The visit to the site aimed to provide the officials with first-hand insight into the current state of the site and to assess the pace and trajectory of its development.

In his remarks, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), expressed appreciation to the Minister for Education for his sustained support toward the NDU initiative and reaffirmed the military’s commitment to advancing the project.

Among the officials who visited the site were the Deputy Minister for Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi, the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, the President of the National Defence University (NDU) of Ghana Air, Vice Marshal Felix Adom Asante, and other senior Military Officers and government Officials.
