Mahama Can’t Explain 24-Hour Economy Policy, It’s an Empty Barrel – Bawumia

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has thrown down the gauntlet, challenging his counterpart from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, to a debate on the economy and governance.

Speaking during the second phase of his nationwide campaign at Nalerigu on Wednesday, July 11, Dr. Bawumia accused the NDC of struggling to explain their proposed 24-hour economy policy, which he believes is “as empty as an empty barrel”.

“He says he has a 24-hour economy policy that he cannot explain. It is as empty as an empty barrel. None of his people can explain it, and they say they will be exporting lions and elephants,” Dr. Bawumia said, mocking the NDC’s policy.

The NPP flagbearer expressed his eagerness to engage in a debate with Mahama, saying, “I am looking forward to a debate with John Dramani Mahama on the economy and governance… When we meet man-to-man, we can debate, and the country will see where our policies lie.”

Dr. Bawumia further vowed to continue selling his policies to the people of Ghana, saying, “If he chooses not to debate, I will continue to sell my policies to the people of Ghana, and you will take the decision.”

In April 2024,  Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia challenged former President John Mahama to engage in a two-man debate ahead of the December 7, 2024, general election.

In a statement released by Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Communications Director for the Bawumia campaign team, it was emphasised that the debate would provide Ghanaians with the opportunity to choose their next leader after President Akufo-Addo.
