Mahama Announces Cabinet Approval of Enhanced Conditions of Service for Envoys

President John Dramani Mahama has announced the approval of enhanced Conditions of Service for Ghanaian diplomats abroad.
Commissioning 11 Ambassadors and High Commissioners on November 19, he outlined government support packages approved by Cabinet to enhance the work of envoys.
“We recognise that diplomats must be well supported to deliver on their mandate. For this reason, the cabinet has approved enhanced Conditions of Service for all our diplomats working abroad.”
In addition, he said the cabinet had approved a waiver of import duties and taxes on one vehicle for foreign service officers returning from overseas service with engine capacities not exceeding 2.7 litres.
Meanwhile, to avoid waste and ensure value for money in all foreign operations, Mahama said the cabinet has approved rent ceilings for officers serving in Missions abroad.
This, he said, is in line with the government’s prudent budget management and the broader reset agenda.
The envoys were Mrs Theresa Adjei Mensah (Czech Republic), Dr Felix Kumah Godwin Anebo (Senegal), Mrs Mona Helen Kabuki Quartey (Italy), Mr Kenneth Akibate (Burkina Faso), and Mr Paul Evans Aidoo (Kenya).
The rest were Professor Solomon Korantwi-Barimah (Egypt), Brigadier General Alhassan Abu, rtd (Ivory Coast), Madam Doris Adzo Denyo Brese (Australia), Ms Elizabeth Nyantakyi (Zambia), Mr Edison Mensah Agbenyegah (Netherlands), and Mr Edward Kwaku Cofie (Algeria).
