Luka Modric Extends Contract with Madrid
Croatian football legend Luka Modric has agreed to a contract extension at Real Madrid, the club announced on Wednesday.
The Captain’s contract with the club will now expire next year.
“Real Madrid C. F. and Luka Modrić have agreed to extend the contract of our captain, who will be linked to the club until 30 June 2025.”
The 38-year-old joined Madrid in 2012 and is in his twelfth season at Santiago Bernabeu.
He has since won 26 titles with the club which include six Champions Leagues, five Club World Cups, four European Super Cups, four Ligas, two Copas del Rey and five Spanish Super Cups.
Modrić stands as one of only five players to have won 6 European Cups and has the most titles in the history of Madrid.
He has made 534 appearances for the La Liga side and scored 39 goals.
On international level, he has 178 caps and holds the all-time record for international caps.
Modric who announced the 2024 Euros was his last during Croatia’s exit has to his name one Ballon d’Or and one Silver Ball at the Club World Cup.
