Lordina Mahama Receives Invitation from Melania Trump for 2-day Summit
Ghana’s First Lady, Her Excellency Lordina Dramani Mahama, is in Washington at the invitation of US Forst Lady Melania Trump for Fostering the Fostering the Future Together Global Coalition Summit.
The two-day summit convened by Melania brings together first spouses from across the world to discuss strategies for a more secure and equitable digital future for children.
Mrs Mahama, in a commitment statement ahead of the summit, stated that “Ghana stands ready to ensure technology becomes a force for empowerment, not endangerment, for every child. Our children’s future is our shared moral duty and generational responsibility.”
Meanwhile, President Mahama is New York and will later today deliver the keynote address at a High-Level Special Event on Reparatory Justice at the United Nations Headquarters.
The event, on the theme “Reparatory Justice for the Trafficking of Enslaved Africans and the Racialised Chattel Enslavement of Africans,” will bring together world leaders and high-level dignitaries to address this critical matter of historical injustice.
On Wednesday, President Mahama will address the UN General Assembly during the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
