Lil Win Released on Bail after Arrest

Actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win has been granted GH¢50,000 bail with two sureties following his arraignment before the Asokore Mampong District Court on Monday, June 3, 2024.

The comic Kumawood actor has been charged with dangerous driving, negligently causing harm and the use of an unregistered branded car.

The prosecutor said investigations were still ongoing as he justified the delayed case as a result of Lil Win’s health condition, Opemsuo Radio’s Johnson Owusu Aduomi reported from the courthouse.

The lawyer of the accused, Magret Agyei Twum, requested bail as she stated her client had suffered from various injuries including internal bleeding and needed bail for further treatment.

She assured, “My client is a popular person and will not escape as the case proceeds.”

The court presided over by His Worship Samuel Boabeng Quansah accepted the request for bail as the prosecutor urged Lil Win to avail himself for investigations when needed.

The case has been adjourned to June 27.

Accident
An accident on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Amakom in the Ashanti Region involving the vehicle of the actor, claimed the life of a toddler.

Lil Win has been accused of causing the accident by witnesses who said he was over-speeding, veering off his lane into an oncoming vehicle.

The boy who at the time was in his father’s vehicle was rushed alongside his father to the Anwiam Hospital. They were both referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) where the boy eventually died.

He has since been buried.

Arrest
Lil Win was arrested on Monday, June 3, 2024, following his discharge from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) by the Manhyia Divisional Police Command’s Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) officers.

Videos on his arrest showed the actor being escorted towards the police vehicle in a wheelchair with a neck brace and decorated in bandages on some body parts.
