Lil Win Apologises to Martha Ankomah after First Defamation Hearing
Ghanaian actor and producer Kwadwo Nkansah has issued an unqualified apology to his industry colleague Martha Ankomah following the first hearing in court of the GHC5 million defamation suit she initiated against him.
The actor known on set as Lil Win showed remorse for derogatory remarks he passed against her nine months ago during a live TikTok session on Tuesday, November 6, 2024.
He courted his over two million followers to help in rendering the apology.
“All we need in Ghana is unity and love. Due to the great respect I have for people who have intervened as well as the love I have for my sister Martha, I apologise to her… I stand here on TikTok where I have 2.5 million followers to ask for her forgiveness. I erred in that.
“What I did disturbed her because I am a man. For the tears she shed and the gravity of the inconvenience it posed, I apologise. That is not my make-up. I promise it won’t happen again and I hope our relationship gets strengthened. She is one person I intend to work with.”
He also blamed bloggers for aggravating the incident.
“You know what happened not long ago which was aggravated by some bloggers.”
He further expressed his wish to one day feature Martha on his set when she gives it the nod and after the case ends.
“I yearn to work with her. From day one, she was on the list but a lot happened and brought about this whole issue.”
Lil Win’s lawyers confirmed that the case was still ongoing but deemed it imperative to take this crucial action after discerning Martha’s demeanour in court.
Background
The two are embroiled in a legal tussle emanating from some jabs Lil Win threw at the lady and in the process, factored in her ambassadorial deal with GTP Fashion.
His attack sprang from an alleged derogatory remark she made against Kumawood when she was offered a movie role by Director Fiifi Gharbin.
Martha filed a writ with the Accra High Court on February 14, 2024, demanding a sum of GHC5million in damages, compensatory damages for the damage done to her reputation and an apology for an alleged defamatory statement.
