LGBTQ Not Most Important Issue Facing Ghana- Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has stated that the issue of LGBTQ+ is not the most pressing issue currently confronting the country.

Among the country’s priorities are the necessities of education, health care, jobs, food, clothing and shelter.

Meanwhile, he said the government’s position is guided by the constitution, respect for human rights and the need to preserve social cohesion.

“While there are strong and different views within our society, we believe that these issues must be addressed through democratic processes, our core values, dialogue and the rule of law.”

Acknowledging the reaction of international partners, he underscored the importance of continued engagement and mutual respect and situating national decisions within the constitutional and cultural context.

“Ghana will continue to uphold its democratic values while engaging constructively with the international partners.”
