Leverage on Gov’t Skills Training Programmes – Napo Tells Youth
The Vice-Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has admonished the youth to take advantage of the government’s skills training programmes to secure a sustainable future.
Addressing the annual church conference and unveiling of a new constitution of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region, Dr. Prempeh emphasized the importance of practical skills in today’s fast-paced world.
He encouraged the youth to enroll in the government’s Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes, which aim to equip them with industry-relevant skills.
“The NPP government has invested heavily in TVET. Between 2017 and 2020, we invested over US$700 million in upgrading, retooling, and refurbishing TVET facilities at both pre-tertiary and tertiary levels to make them fit for purpose in order to deliver quality skills training that are critical for our industrial agenda as a nation. It is essential that you take advantage of these opportunities,” Dr. Prempeh stressed.
He added, “Ghana is blessed with a youthful and energetic population, willing to be trained and ready to work, which can address our youth unemployment challenges and help our young citizens live sustainable lives. With the right skills, you’ll be empowered to start your own businesses, create jobs, and contribute meaningfully to our nation’s development.”
Dr. Prempeh assured the youth that the NPP remains committed to creating an enabling environment for them to thrive.
“His Excellency, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s Presidential candidate for the 2024 elections remains steadfastly committed to bold solutions for our country’s future. Youth training and skills development remain a cardinal point in his vision,” he underscored.
