Let’s Trust Herbal Medicine, Says Dr
Dr. Nana Gyedu, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dr. Gyedu Herbal Center and also serving as the Ashanti Regional Chairman for the Universal Plant Medicine and Traditional Healers Association, has called on Ghanaians to place their trust in the effectiveness of herbal medicine as a viable treatment option.
Addressing attendees at a recent Herbal Practitioners meeting held at the Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI) in the bustling Kumasi Metropolis, Dr. Gyedu emphasised the prevailing underestimation of herbal medicine among certain segments of the Ghanaian population, who often lean towards orthodox medicine as their primary choice.
During an exclusive interview with Johnson Owusu Aduomi, a reporter from Opemsuo, Dr. Gyedu highlighted the immense value of herbal medicine when prepared with strict adherence to hygiene practices. He stressed that properly prepared herbal remedies possess remarkable potency and do not carry the risk of side effects commonly associated with certain orthodox medicines. Dr. Gyedu stated:
“Herbal medicine, when hygienically prepared, is highly potent and does not have the side effects that can be found with some orthodox medicines. Ghanaians should trust in the effectiveness of herbal medicine for their treatment needs.”
Furthermore, he appealed to the government for sustained support to the herbal medicine industry, underscoring the vital role it plays in meeting the healthcare needs of Ghanaians. He expressed:
“We need the support of the government to ensure the sustainability and growth of the herbal medicine industry. This will enable us to continue providing effective healthcare solutions to our fellow Ghanaians.”
As the awareness of alternative medical practices continues to grow, Dr. Nana Gyedu’s call to trust in herbal medicine resonates with the ongoing pursuit of holistic and natural approaches to healthcare throughout Ghana.
