League Log: Kotoko Close In On Samartex Atop
The Asante Kotoko Sporting Club have closed the gap between leaders FC Samartex after taking the second spot on the league log following their match week 19 games.
Samartex before their 1-0 loss to Nations FC on Monday were five points clear at the top but are currently separated from the second spot with three points.
Monday’s loss was their fifth in the premier league this season leaving them with 35 points with Nations FC moving from fifth to fourth on 30 points.
Meanwhile, the Porcupines climbed second from fourth place with 32 points after pocketing all three points against Bibiani Gold Stars on March 1.
With an outstanding game, Aduana Stars are now third with 30 points while Nsoatreman’s 2-1 home defeat to Hearts of Oak on March 3 pushed them down from third to fifth on the log.
The Phobians, however, advanced two places up from ninth place with 27 points. Occupying the sixth place are Berekum Chelsea who hold 30 points. Great Olympics are next with 27 points and marked with an outstanding match.
Ninth-place Bechem United (26 points), 10-placed Medeama SC (25 points), 12-placed Dreams FC (22 points) and 14-place Accra Lions (21 points) all have outstanding games.
Legon Cities are 11th in the league with 25 points, 13-placed Bibiani Gold Stars have 21 points and 15-placed Karela United are with 20 points.
Still threatened by relegation are Bofoakwa Tano (19), Heart of Lions (18) and RTU (18).
