Land Dispute: Two Chiefs fight over land in A/R.; One injured
Security personnel deployed to maintain peace and order
The timely intervention of the Police saved what could have turned into a total bloody clash between followers of two chiefs, Nana Amponsah Kwaa II, chief of Atwima Kwanwoma and Nana Kwame Frimpong, also a chief of Atwima Yabi all in the Atwima Kwanwoma District in the Ashanti Region
According to our reporter, Nana Amponsah Kwaa on last Wednesday sent his subjects on a parcel of land which according to sources is under dispute to stop a private developer from developing the area.
Upon reaching the site, some hoodlums from nowhere accosted the traditional rulers from Kwanwoma sent by their chief, Nana Amponsah Kwaa II and chased them away with machetes and other lethal weapons.
According to the Kyidomhene of Kwanwoma who was part of the delegation to the site, the criminals while chasing them away also rained curses and insults on them including the Chief of Kwanwoma himself, Nana Amponsah Kwaa II.
The Kyidomhene later explained to Opemsuo.com that the gangsters managed to inflict cuts on one of the servants of Kwanwomahene by name Kwaku Addai popularly called DD.
Speaking to Opemsuo.com reporter, Kwabena Danso-Dapaah on telephone, police in Atwima Dechemboaso said they have received a report from Kwaku Addai that some thugs suspected to be working for the Yabi Chief, Nana Kwame Frimpong, unprovocatively attacked him with machetes.
“We have a report from one Kwaku Addai but we are not investigating any land matter because that is above us”, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) branch of the Ghana Police Service in Dechemboaso said.
Meanwhile, several attempts to get Nana Kwame Frimpong, chief of Atwima Yabi, to respond to the matter have proven unsuccessful.
