Kwabre South Assembly Intensifies Infrastructure Development in Education, Health and Roads

The Municipal Chief Executive for Affiagya Kwabre South, Hon. Patricia Pearl Ankrah, has outlined a series of infrastructure projects in education, healthcare and road development aimed at improving living conditions across the municipality.

Speaking in an interview with Kofi Boakye on Nkwantannanso on Opemsuo Radio, she said the Assembly has, within less than a year, ensured that every electoral area benefits from ongoing development initiatives.

“I assumed office on May 15, 2025, and I can boldly say that within nine to ten months, every community or electoral area has had a touch of development,” she stated.

On education, the MCE noted that the Assembly is addressing the lack of access to schools in some communities, particularly at Kyerase, where there was previously no government school.

“At Kyerase, between Kronum and Afrancho, there was no government school, so children had to travel long distances. We have now built a two-unit classroom block for a kindergarten, which will soon be commissioned, and we plan to expand it as the children progress,” she explained.

She added that additional projects are ongoing, including a six-unit classroom block at Wawase-Akwaasu and a three-unit classroom block at Ankaase Dumakyi, where pupils previously studied under tents exposed to harsh weather conditions. The Assembly has also supplied about 800 desks to schools, with plans to distribute more furniture by the end of April.

In the health sector, Hon. Ankrah said efforts are being made to expand access to healthcare in underserved communities. She indicated that aside from the Afrancho Polyclinic and the Agenda 111 project at Atrama, new facilities are being developed to close existing gaps.

“We are building a health centre with a bungalow at Ntiribuoho, and also constructing a CHPS compound at Dumakyi to serve farming communities and improve access to healthcare,” she said.

On road infrastructure, she revealed that the Assembly has undertaken reshaping works in about 20 communities to improve accessibility, while work is ongoing on the road linking Bouho to Afrancho, which is expected to be completed by August.

The MCE emphasised that the Assembly remains committed to expanding infrastructure and ensuring equitable development across all communities within the municipality.
