Kumasi: Cargo Truck Rams Into Vehicles, Injuring Many
An unknown number of people have sustained various degrees of injuries after a truck rammed into two commercial vehicles and a taxi at the Kumasi Airport roundabout.
The accident occurred around 10 am on Thursday, April 7.
The Truck with registration number AE 354-12 was carrying cashew nuts from Krofrom toward Anloga junction, it is reported.
It rammed into a Kia Pregio with registration number AS 3864-22, a Taxi with registration number GT 347-19 and an Urvan with registration number AC 1269-17, a report filed by Opemsuo radio’s Kwame Adu Gyamfi noted.
The Airport Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) Commander ASP Oko Agyiri said victims in the accident were taken to the Manhyia Government Hospital and the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
According to eyewitnesses, the brakes of the truck failed.
An eyewitness recounted that “I saw the car (the truck) approaching from Krofrom and honking its horn, signalling cars to move from the road. All of a sudden, it crashed into other cars. No one died but they got injured. I believe his driver had a failed brake”.
ASP Oko said efforts are being made to tow the four cars off the road to make way for traffic flow.
