Kudus Fate Undecided for Egypt Clash
Ghana international, Mohammed Kudus’ availability in the team to face the Pharaohs of Egypt in tomorrow’s clash is still not certain, according to head Coach Chris Hughton.
The midfielder missed the Black Stars’ opening game in the 2023 Nations Cup on Sunday as he was undergoing rehabilitation after a “minor” injury he picked up while playing for West Ham United against Arsenal in the English Premier League on December 28, 2023.
In an update at a pre-match presser, Hughton said the inclusion of the player is still in limbo.
He told the press Kudus will be assessed for onward decision tomorrow.
“We are going to assess him. We have today and tomorrow morning to assess him. He has trained the last few days and we will assess him today and tomorrow and make a decision tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, the head coach of the Pharaohs, Rui Victoria, says his squad is prepared for the West Ham fast-rising star.
“I think it’s good for the tournament that the best players play all the games. For me, it’s clear. For me, he’s (Mohammed Kudus) a fantastic player, he’s doing well in the English Premier League. I am ready to face that kind of player, we are ready for that, we will prepare the team for that.”
The Black Stars began their opening game against Cape Verde on a disappointing note as they conceded two goals at the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny.
